Rush Canada is proud to announce that coach Alex Oran’s U14 white team has won the prestigious Robbie Tournament held on July 1st-3rd 2017.
The tournament consisted of 24 teams across Ontario and the US. The boys were placed in a tough group alongside Woodbridge Strikers TG, and during their first meeting came up short 2-1. The team was able to finish in a wild card spot and after playing their final group stage game, advanced to both the quarter finals and semifinals in a single day.
In the championship game, they met again with none other than Woodbridge Strikers TG. The game was a hard fought battle from the very first whistle. In the opening minutes, a free kick delivered by Michael Fiqueli, abled Isaac Martins to pounce on the rebound and score the opening goal. Both teams fought back and forth throughout the game, with chances on either end. Thanks to the heroics of Arsam Shahriary, who stopped a penalty kick in the second half, the white team was able to maintain the 1 -0 win over the undefeated Woodbridge Strikers and be crowned the tournament champions. Arsam Shahriary was voted as the MVP of the championship game.
The hard work and effort of all the players displayed throughout this tournament showed great determination, skill and perseverance.
Congratulations to all players.
