Congratulations to Jacob Dyck for earning a NCAA Division I Scholarship and signing with St. Bonaventure in New York. Jacob has been an integral part of Coach Bogdan’s U18 & U21 teams helping them win the SAAC Cup Final and League Championship on numerous occasions. Over the years, he has shown great versatility, often filling in as a striker or central midfielder and leading his team in both goals and in assists. Dyck has also had a successful high school career, helping his Our Lady of Mount Carmel High School squad to the deepest OFSAA playoff run in school history as a team captain.
St. Bonaventure Men’s Soccer Coach, Kwame Oduro on Jacob Dyck:
“Jake is a goal scorer. We have been able to see Jake on many occasions and the kid can score. He loves to shoot and that was something we lacked last season. We hope he can step in and make an immediate impact.”
Rush Canada Technical Director, Slobodan Pavlovic on Jacob:
“Rush Canada Soccer academy is graduating their first generation of students with great success. Boys born in 1998 which have been with the academy for over 3 years have – under the coaching guidance of Coach Bogdan – developed into one of the most competitive teams in Ontario with several players attracting attention of the professional teams and American Universities. Daniel Da Silva, in June last year signed for Benfica’s Academy team and Jacob Dyck has now accepted an offer to play for St. Bonaventure University. Four other players have been offered scholarships from American Universities and are currently reviewing their options. The high level training programs executed by highly qualified coaches with international experience, combined with top level international competition (Dallas Cup and organized games versus top teams in USA Region 2 including ODP teams of Michigan and Illinois) provide the best developmental environment for youth players in Canada. Besides experience within their own teams in Rush Canada, the Rush Canada players that pass tryouts for Rush Select Teams and Rush USSF Academy teams have the opportunity to train and play internationally with the best players from 5 continents on which Rush operates. In 2015, Jacob and Michael from Bogdan’s 1998 team spent 7 days in Rush USSF Academy camp last July and all expenses where covered by Rush Colorado which was hosting the event. Both Jacob and Michael where impressed with the training facilities and quality of the players and coaching staff. Experience from the camp has rounded up their understanding of performance expectations for high level soccer players.
Rush Canada Soccer Academy is following the same process with it’s younger teams – we have trained all winter and played competitive games with USA teams preparing for major tournaments this spring. Our 2002 teams are accepted to play at the Dallas Cup and another tournament in England – while our 2005 / 2004 / 2003 teams are invited to participate in an international tournament in Greece this summer.Congratulations to Jacob and best wishes from the Rush Staff for his academic and athletic success at St. Bonaventure. With his talent and work ethics, Jacob is a candidate for MLS draft following his college career.”
