“For the second year in a row, Rush Canada Soccer Academy has been invited to participate in the ODP Region 2 (Includes teams from Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania) Tournament which took place last weekend at Legacy Centre in Brighton, Michigan.
Our 1998/1999/2002/2003 Boys and 2001 Girls had the opportunity to play versus the top selected players/teams from Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana. Our players had the rare and unique opportunity to play in top level competition – an opportunity usually only extended to top teams from this ODP Region. This was an exclusive opportunity only provided to Rush Canada Academy teams.
Playing MEANINGFUL GAMES is extremely important for high quality players development program and finding high level opposition is not easy within Ontario boundaries and within segregated competitions inside it.
Rush Canada Soccer Academy is a part of the biggest and most reputable player development organization in the world and has exclusive global contacts allowing our teams to secure participation in events in America and other parts of the world, offering the best possible competition. Besides regular invitations to Region 2 ODP events, Rush Canada teams are also accepted to play at the Dallas Cup and multiple top level tournaments in Europe. Many of our teams have received positive feedback from Region 2 ODP coaching staff members and our 2002 boys are off to the Dallas Cup in a couple of weeks.
Our 1998/1999 were exposed to many college coaches that were a part of the ODP Staff and after some solid performances, there may likely be scholarship offers extended by Universities in Michigan.
Our 2001 girls have encountered some highly skilled competition (5 players in the US National Pool) and did relatively well managing the pace set by the top selections from Illinois and Michigan.
Overall, the past two weekends of competition versus Region 2 ODP teams have provided Rush Canada Soccer Academy staff and players with an exceptional experience allowing us to analyze our overall performances and make needed adjustments.
Due to our Rush affiliation, Rush Canada is the only development program in Ontario with access to participation in these regional soccer events. The Rush Global Coaching Staff works to create a unique developmental advantage for the Rush members – we are developing players according to global, not local standards and are measuring their development in global competitions at different levels – from Rush Canada Academy teams to participation in the Rush Select teams and Rush USSF Academy teams.
Congratulations to Rush Canada Academy teams on the excellent representation of the Rush values during this high end USA Region 2 ODP event.
